Kimpton Hotel Monaco Philadelphia wedding

Brendan and Blake

A Penn State Romance Formed in the Dark

Brendan & Blake

A fortuitous power outage brought these two Penn State alum face-to-face (literally), and they’ve only had eyes for one another ever since. Having spent most of their lives in rural areas, they desired a completely different wedding setting, and they’ve always loved Philadelphia for its many cultural and historical offerings. Kimpton Hotel Monaco Philadelphia “felt right” the second the couple entered the property. Their early evening ceremony took place in Lafayette South, where they complemented the “perfect setting” with green-lit topiaries; lanterns and white rose petals lined the aisle. The cocktail hour happened in the Stratus Lounge and the reception in the Lafayette Ballroom, which had been completely transformed.

The wedding took place on a picture-perfect, 70-degree spring day, so the rooftop proved the perfect place to begin the celebration and to take photos with family members and friends. All the guests loved the trendy atmosphere, huge bar and assortment of passed and stationary appetizers.

“Everything about the Hotel Monaco is first class.”

From the moment the couple entered the ballroom, guests stayed on their feet dancing. The only thing that put people back in their seats, the couple claims, was the “outstanding” food (salmon, chicken and beef entrees). The night ended with the servers passing around Philly pretzels and cheesesteak dumplings—the perfect post-dancing treat.

“The boutique feel—with a combination of both classic English and trendy stylings plus high-quality, full service amenities—exceeded everything we envisioned.”
