Kimpton Hotel Monaco Philadelphia wedding

Aubre and Michael

Love in the Digital Era

Aubre and Michael

When a self-proclaimed "angry feminist" and "neurotic misanthrope" met on the Internet, the unthinkable happened. After a week of correspondence, the duo went on their first date and the rest is history; Aubre told her roommate that very night that she planned to marry Mike.

Getting hitched in Philly, where they fell in love, seemed a no-brainer, and the couple loved the idea of hosting the celebration in one easy, gorgeous, fun location. After a super relaxed wedding morning, the bride and groom joined 120 guests for a meaningful, readings-filled reception and a dance-heavy reception. The newlyweds spent the wedding weekend in a gorgeous Monaco suite; friends returned with them post-reception to keep the party rocking.

For flower and design assistance, the couple turned to Liza LaMare of Peony and Pearl (a close family friend). Liza somehow mastered Aubre’s unique vision of a winter wedding featuring dark, dramatic colors that conjured walking through the forest en route to a visit a great, great-grandmother — who just happens to be a castle-dwelling vampire. The end result? A breathtakingly beautiful, romantic, gothic wedding.

As soon as we walked through the Monaco, we realized it was perfect.

Memorable Details

Instead of a seated meal, the pair opted for various food stations, which they declared delicious. Guests still rave about how much they ate and how much they enjoyed the fare, including the addition of soft pretzels by Philadelphia Pretzel Factory, a wedding cake by Federal Donuts, assorted mini-desserts by Isgo Bakery and all the drinks.

"All of the details, vendors and deliveries were managed by Monaco's unrivaled staff (talkin' boutcha Janet and Matthew!) so that we could really enjoy the day."
