Kimpton Hotel Monaco Philadelphia wedding

Brandi + James

A LOVE FOUND IN PHILLY

A divine connection + five-star event

In 2013 James and Brandi met at their home church—Philadelphia’s Sharon Baptist Church. Although Brandi politely turned James down after his first attempt (what if it didn’t work out and they had to see each other every Sunday?), she agreed to hand over her phone number six months later. And the rest, as they say, is history. They both love their hometown, praising its “food, history and diversity.” They couldn’t imagine getting married anywhere else, and they rave that their wedding proved to be a five-star event from start to finish. The couple planned their event in just six months and immediately knew they loved Hotel Monaco’s modern, chic, Art Deco decor and the venue’s prime location in Old City Philadelphia.

Memorable Details

Both the ceremony and reception were held in the Lafayette Ballroom, as rays of sunlight poured through large windows. The ceremony space was decorated with floral arrangements that consisted of white hydrangea and jewels that lined the aisles and framed the altar. The room held 100 of the couple’s closest friends and family; no matter where the bride and groom looked, they saw the loving, smiling faces of their favorite people in the world. The couple raves, “Our ceremony was an intimate, emotional, spiritual, joyous and beautiful occasion!”

"Our wedding was one-of-a-kind, a dream come true…a dream that could not have been realized anyplace other than Hotel Monaco."

The couple will always remember how “magical and perfect” their wedding day was, and they found Janet and her team amazing to work with.

Guests raved about the reception’s atmosphere, held in Lafayette North and South following the cocktail hour (which took place in the Stratus Lounge on the hotel’s rooftop). The dimly-lit reception room featured tables decorated with candles, vases with submerged orchids and flower arrangements consisting of white hydrangea. DJ Everett “Hollywood” Jackson made sure the evening involved non-stop dancing; the night overflowed with delicious food, fun and love.

On their honeymoon night, the newlyweds slept in the Corner One Bedroom Suite at Hotel Monaco —a room they describe as gorgeous and spacious. They commend the incredible customer service provided by hotel staff who went above and beyond to ensure the couple enjoyed the perfect ending to a perfect day.
