Stasia + William

Fit to be Wed

Romantic nuptials with South Philly flair

When Stasia first moved to Philadelphia from her home state of Florida, she happened to make her way to William’s gym and take part in his CrossFit class. It was love at first push-up and when the couple decided to get married, there was no better city to do it in than their shared home of Philadelphia where they’d built their life together.

The ceremony took place at the magnificent Saint Monica’s Catholic Church in South Philadelphia where William grew up & attended grade school, and was a beautiful coming together of William’s Italian heritage and Stasia’s Greek heritage. Post-ceremony, the party got started on the chartered trolley back to Kimpton Hotel Monaco Philadelphia and continued through cocktail hour at the Stratus Rooftop Lounge. A boisterous reception in the stunning Lafayette Ballroom lasted late into the evening and ended with Stasia and William enjoying a romantic last dance to revel in the beautiful night they planned for themselves and their loved ones.

Memorable Details

At the cocktail hour, guests were greeted at Stratus Rooftop Lounge with Stasia and William’s signature cocktails, (bourbon-based The Tavern Mule for him and rum-based My Type Jawns for her). There were also koozies with South Philly slang on the back and a delicious selection of bites. The sun was bright in the Philadelphia October sky, highlighting the floral touches throughout the space.

“We chose Hotel Monaco because it perfectly blended Stasia’s eclectic taste with William’s classic taste and made for easy planning for our out of town guests, placing them in the heart of Old City.”

Stasia and William both loved the design in Stratus Rooftop Lounge as Vapor and Mist paralleled their tastes and created the perfect place to start the night’s festivities.

Thanks to a collection of candles, the prefunction space outside the Lafayette Ballroom was lit with a romantic and moody glow. Inside the ballroom, two pillars with floral accents guided guests to the party, the desserts, and the GIF enabled photobooth that doubled as the couple’s guest book. Woven rattan chargers, terracotta gauze napkins, and disposable cameras on each table perfectly reflected the couple’s playful and complimentary tastes. The sweetheart table was surrounded by a floral wall with a “Written in the Stars” neon sign making for beautiful photo moments.

The newlyweds kicked off their festive reception by standing on chairs at their friends table and belting out a Celine Dion song to each other, which set the tone for a lively night (which included an Eagles chant, naturally). The DJ kept the energy up and the dance floor crowded while guests made use of party favors like heart shaped sunglasses and foam glow sticks. As the evening wound down, Stasia, William and their guests were treated to tasty desserts and late night specials.
